recent years Costa Rica's Guanacaste region has experienced a huge jump
in its tourism industry, with travelers arriving in droves to
experience Guanacaste's idyllic beaches and brand spanking new
resorts. Liberia is a medium sized city and the capital of
Guanacaste province, with an international airport that allows easy
access to the region. While most travelers choose to stay on the
beach or in the mountains, Liberia does offer its visitors pretty
Spanish colonial era buildings and easy access to Rincon de la Vieja National Park.
As in many Central American cities, Liberia's central plaza is at the heart of social activity for the local population. The plaza takes up a couple of blocks directly in front of the town's church. Visitors can take a turn around the plaza or sit on a bench and watch the flirting teens and energetic young families.
Spanish Colonial Architecture
The streets around the plaza are where you'll find the best examples of colonial architecture in Liberia. Pick a street and stroll a few blocks, taking in the bahareque clay homes with courtyards, wrought ironwork and dramatic, elaborately carved wooden doors.
The staff at this luxury, 5 star resort aim to keep guests comfortable and happy at all times.
