Puerto Nuevo is one of those quirky little destinations you've gotta love.  The village's claim to fame is its restaurants - around 30 of them, grouped together, all serving the same thing: lobster.  In the 1950s, the area's fishing families began setting up simple restaurants in their homes where they could sell their lobster catches, and before long the town was known as a place to get a delicious, dirt cheap lobster dinner.  Prices are still low today, with a dinner of lobster with beans, rice and homemade tortillas running in the $10-$15 range.

In addition to the lobster restaurants, Puerto Nuevo boasts a small shopping area, great for picking up local handicrafts and souvenirs, and a beach popular with surfers, though it is a bit rocky for sunbathers and families.

The town is located along the coast of Baja California, less than an hour's drive from downtown San Diego.

Grand Baja Resort Puerto Nuevo
This hotel offers villas and suites where guests can stay while enjoying Puerto Nuevo. It's not a fancy place - rooms are comfortable, but show some wear.  Amenities include a pool, Jacuzzi, tennis courts, basketball courts, playground and spa.
